Photoshop Express Photo Editor

Photoshop Express is a web based and free version of Photoshop. Photoshop is the name of a brand though some people think it is a generic term for photo editing. Sure it's a less featured version of the expensive Photoshop software. That said you won't miss many of the exotic features as this tool is targeted at mainstream consumers, not professionals. Photoshop Express is a free - all it requires is an easy registration.

Photoshop Express has some great features. Shown here in an original image, followed by pop color which turns the image to black and white. Use can use Pop Color to turn any photo into a black-and-white with a vivid splash of color. You decide exactly which part of the photo to highlight and you have full control over the Pop color and the color range. We finish up with a great example of the sketch feature which takes a photo and makes it look more like a sketch - and you have control over how much of a sketch effect you want to see.

Photoshop Express has basic editing, cropping, red-eye and other retouching tools. It also has the ability to add some stickers and decoration - but in general Photoshop Express offers less "fun" features than Ribbet or PicMonkey. Photoshop Express is a bit more serious than services like PicMonkey and Ribbet (but heck, their names alone show highlight their level of fun).

PicMonkey, a creation of several former Picnik engineers offers a simple and easy to use tool for editing and altering your images. Even if Picnik was still around, PicMonkey would be a great alternative!

The entirely Web-based editor is fast and effective, In the left-hand column you see all of your options. And that includes everything from basics likes cropping and rotating to a full array of air-brushing edits. In Picnik style (but not quite as Picnik like as Ribbet), you can add icons and text and throw a frame around a photo. Basic edits consist of crop, resize, rotate, as well as color tweaking and sharpening. There is also an auto adjust button much like the one that was among Picnik's top features. Obviously the clone (copy) feature is great too!

Photoshop Express is not only equipped with basic image editing tools like crop and rotate, but you may also apply quite a few impressive effects to your photographs like blur or that warm vintage look. You can also make color adjustments to your photographs by simply dragging your fingers across the screen. Once you are done editing the photograph, you may either save it your iPad's photo album or you can directly post it to your Facebook wall through the Photoshop Express app itself.

Ribbet is built on the same platform that made Google's Picnik great and is an easy to use yet powerful online photo editor. You can use Ribbet for collages, touch-ups and advanced photographic effects like curves and clone tools, fonts, frames, stickers, vampire effects, beards, and an entire pond full (yes, get ready to deal with some froggy puns) of effects. Like Picnik, there will be a free and a premium version. What's available in the free versus premium version will determine their long term success.

I love editing photos, but when you have the photos say from a wedding, a reunion or a graduation you might want a professional touch. Tucia can add a person into a family portrait or remove an unwanted stranger from your photo. They can digitally open up closed eyes or fix hair. They can also offer glamorize and digital cosmetic enhancement options - get a tan, clear acne or remove braces. Simple touch-ups such as digital camera mark or red eye removal and cropping are also available.

Photoshop Star is an online repository of tips, guidance and information as regards the ever-popular image processing solution. The available content is split into categories such as "Graphic Design", "Photo Effects" and "Resources", whereas newcomers are well-advised to get started by perusing the "Photoshop Basics"section.

The posts range from general ones (like the ones found in the section named "Photoshop Basics") to posts dealing with very specific concerns, like the ones about creating marble text effects and professional-looking advertisements.

It's not like the world needs one more photo editor, but if one is going to be built at least make it a good one. Citrify is a great addition. The best feature is the ease of touching up photos. I took the above photo on the left (a Citrify default photo) and enhanced it to the image on the right in the first 4 minutes of using Citrify. No training. No research. I just uploaded the photo and used the out-of-the-box touch-up tools. Citrify does not have all the features of other photo editors - but for facial touchups with almost no training Citrify is awesome!

Pixlr is a web service that combines image design and paint tools with photo editing. So whether you want to create a free form image , layer one image over another or use a variety of filters, effects and level adjustments to transform photographs, Pixlr is equally capable of meeting your needs. Even with all these features, Piixlr remains easy to use - certainly much easier and cheaper than Photoshop.
